Anthony Law was from Noarlunga in Soth Australia. He registered for national service in July 1965 and was inducted into the army. In February 1966, when on weekend leave, he decided not to return to the Army and went AWOL. He and his family travelled to New Zealand. After 4 years in New Zealand, he returned to South Australia and was arrested by the Army. His hearing was before Magistrate C Beerworth on 7 April 1970 at the Magistrates Court he informed the court that during 1965 and 1966 he formed conscientious objector beliefs and was unaware he could apply for exemption from military service. He said that objected to any form of killing or violence. He also said that he going to New Zealand was to get away from the National service Act. Magistrate Beerworth was convinced and fully exempted him from military service. Anthony was returned to Keswick Barracks and immediately discharged.
