Further Information:
Colin Green was a farmer from New South Wales. He was a Christadelphian by religion. On that basis he applied for total exemption from military duties under the National Service Act 1951 as a conscientious objector. Magistrate Meagher granted his application on 28 August 1952.A Christadelphian elder who gave evidence in support of Colin stated, We hold that we must take no part whatever in military matters, combatant or non-combatant. Military training prepares men to be proficient in taking life, and anyone undertaking it becomes part of the military machine. The job is to kill as many as possible in the shortest time. If you give your spirit or support to anything, you help it along. So we adjure our members to refrain, by oath or affirmation, from linking up with the military organization.
