Frederick Abell was from Mackay in Queensland. He was a Christian pacifist. On that basis he applied for full exemption from all military duties. On 22 April 1954 at the Mackay Court of Petty Sessions, Magistrate Baker granted his application to registered as a conscientious objector under the National Service Act 1951.
