Robert (Bob) Hall was from Walkville in South Australia. He was a university student at Adelaide University and a member of the Pacifist Society. He registered for National Service in 1966 but then made application for deferment of call-up until he had successfully completed his studies during 1967 and 1968. He then decided on further compliance with the National Service Act 1964 and refused to attend the mandatory medical examination on 6 March 1969. On 24 July 1969 he was convicted in court for this offence and fined $40 plus $4 costs and in lieu of non-payment a sentence of one month’s jail plus 7 days jail. He was issued with a call-up notice on 17 September 1969 which attracted a mandatory sentence of two years jail. It is unknown if he was jailed for this offence.
