Lance Corporal Kenneth Burrell had been a farmer before he enlisted in the AIF in February 1942. He was a member of the Christian Assemblies of Australia. As a member of the medical unit, the 109 Australian General Hospital, Burrell was serving as a non-combatant, but in 1942, he decided to refuse to continue to perform military duties. He was court martialed. The result of his trial is unknown.
