Rex Hewett was an Electrical Fitter from New South Wales. He objected to the Vietnam War. He was born to peace activist Noreen Hewett in 1945 and was in the first ballot. He applied for full exemption from military duties and a hearing was held at the Court of Petty sessions in Sydney on 17 April 1968. The application was not granted. Under the National Service Act 1964 conscientious objection to a particular was not grounds for exemption from military duties.
