Further Information:
It was reported in the Tribune that Barry Cripps was from Queensland who registered for national service and at the same time applied for full exemption from military duties as a conscientious objector. It was granted, without a court hearing, probably in late September or early October 1967. Success was based on a conscientious objection to the Vietnam War. This was despite objection to a particular war being not grounds for being registered as a conscientious objector under the National service Act 1964.
