Denis Caudrey was a Christadelphian from Burwood in Victoria. He applied for and was granted full exemption from military duties by magistrate B Walsh at a court hearing in Melbourne on 19 August 1965 According to the court transcript he stated that he had no enemies and would not make munitions. He experienced a barrage of questions during the hearing, which included his grounds for objection, origin of his beliefs, objections to joining the army, what he would do if someone attacked his mother, whether he was concerned about living and dying, enemy soldiers and allegiance to the crown. He fainted in court.
