Ernest Christian was Christadelphian farmer from the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. After his enlistment in the Medical Corps, he lodged an application in the civil court to be registered as a conscientious objector to military service. He stated that ‘a policy of force’ was against his religious beliefs. His application was rejected. When he refused to perform any further military duties, he was court martialed. He did not appeal.
