Further Information:
Alexander Charlton was born at Guildford WA in 1923. He was a Christadelphian. His appeal went forward with the approval of the Minister on 24 August 1942 but was rejected by Justice Dwyer in the Perth Supreme Court. When he refused to take the oath of enlistment and was summoned to court, Alexander’s counsel advised that a jail sentence would not change his mind. Alexander was willing to serve in Manpower and held a current First Aid Certificate. The Magistrate refused to listen and sentenced him to a month in prison.
