Ronald Hall was a Jehovah’s Witness, married, with children. He worked as a shepherd at Lake Leake, Tasmania. In 1942, his application to enroll as a conscientious objector was rejected in the Campbelltown Court and he was ordered to perform non-combatant duties. Ronald refused to take the oath of enlistment or to report to camp. On 1 July 1942, he was arrested by the Provost Corps and kept in military detention until 13 July. He was then court martialed and fined £5 for refusing to report to camp.
