Philip Owen Burdon was a 20-year-old from New Norfolk in Tasmania. He was a Seventh Day Adventist. In early 1965 he applied for full exemption from military duties as a conscientious objector. His application was dismissed. He appealed the decision. Philip was granted exemption from combatant duties only by Justice Crawford of the Supreme Court of Tasmania on 20 October 1965.It is unknown if he further appealed the decision.
